British Leyland gave the horrific Marina a new lease on life with a new grille and tail lights. Voila! The Morris Ital.
Alfa Romeo ARNA. Dull Nissan Pulsar 3/5-door styling with an old Alfa engine and electrics.
The '87 Allante. Take the Olds Toronado that was so bad, it killed the name off for good. Cut it up. Stick the worst American V8 ever made in it. Drive the front wheels. Fly it all over the world going massive expense just to get it built. Stick a manual top on it that wouldn't close, an interior that looked like a chiclet factory exploded in it, and sell it for $60k in 1987 dollars.

Here are the two worst American cars of the 1970's and 1980's, the Chevrolet Chevette and Chevrolet Vega. The Vega blew head gaskets leaving the showroom floor and the Chevette was just a miserable car. And no, the Pinto was not a bad car. The Pinto was actually a good running car, I had a 1971, one of the early models and it had the 1.6L Kent engine with a 4-speed manual transmission. It was reliable, handled great and delivered good fuel economy. I was just lucky I was never hit hard in a rear end collision in my Pinto, it had the very flimsy bumpers in the front and rear..

Ahh, the brilliant era of FWD V8 GM. The person responsible for starting that horrible trend should be forcibly deported to a planet with no cars on it.

The Ital was one of the cars not mentioned in the book about the history of Ital design even though it was named after it!

How the Morris Ital was allowed to live and the Triumph SD2 wasn't is beyond me.
